Bobbin and Top Thread Problems
If your sewing machine keep breaking top or bobbins thread this tutorial help you troubleshoot these problems.
Do not use large spools. The sewing machine cannot pull the tread from a spool smoothly and it will break periodically.
Note: The big size spools are intended for industrial sewing machines, for overlock sewing machines and coverstitch machines.
Lift the spool of thread and check the pin. The turns of thread can fall down and cling to the spool pin.
During sewing the top thread may inadvertently get into this tensioner.
It is used for winding the thread onto the bobbin.
Do not overtighten the upper thread. Use the average value of the tensioner.
Sewing needle may be the cause of breaking the upper thread. Take a magnifying glass and look at the needle tip. It should be sharp and straight.
Do not wind thread onto the bobbin by hand. The thread will come out in spurts that be degrade the quality of the stitching.
On the bobbin case is the screw for adjusting tension the bobbin thread.
Try not to turn this screw too much. Its sharp burrs may be another reason for the breaking of the upper thread.
The surface of bobbin case should not be rusty. The surface should not have such broken portions especially.
Professional tailors often use a thin glossy gasket into bottom of bobbin case.

Periodically clean the inner surface of the bobbin case.
This shuttle hook pulls the upper thread into fabric. Its surface must be perfectly clean and smooth. The tip of the hook must be sharp.
The plastic bobbins rotate into the bobbin case more easily and silently.
Don't use the old sample threads for modern sewing machines. They contain a lot of cotton fibers that makes them less durable and slippery.
When buying a new bobbins pay attention to their size. Some of them may not be suitable for your model a sewing machine. They can be reason of various defects during a forming the stitches.
Timely oiling and cleaning is the main condition for smooth operation your sewing machine. Under the shuttle hook cover can accumulate scraps of thread. Periodically need to remove the hook cover and shuttle and clean all details with a stiff brush.
