Tips for Using your Serger
You do not know what a serger? The serger (or overlocker) is a sewing machine that used for finish off seam allowances of your garments. Using a serger you will be save a time make your sewing project clean and tidy.

What threads are suitable for overlock sewing machine
The threads are the most important factor of good work overlocker. Threads on cone spools are ideal for overlock sewing machine and coverstitch machines. They are spending a lot of threads and a small coil is barely enough for one garment. The turns of thread easily go from a conical shape of the coil and provide uniform tension of the overlock stitch.
Serger threads tension
Threads tension should not be too large. Start to adjust the tension of the threads with minimum values (1-2).

Different colors of threads will help you properly configure a serger
If you have little experience and you cannot correctly adjust the tension of the thread of overlock stitch use the different colors of threads.

Do not cut the chains threads close to the edge
A serger can't do back stitches and you need learn to fix the edge of the chains threads. Do not cut the chains threads close to the edge of the fabric. You need to leave long tails and insert it into stitch back. This is easily done using a latch tool (knitting machine) or other similar tools.
Do not use the pins instead basting
Do not use the metal pins instead basting. Or at least pull out them far from the knives of serger. To avoid damaging the knives and looper you can use the binder clips instead of pins.
Big bobbin cone you can rewind to 4 separate coils
The thread that is wound on the conical bobbin is best suited for overlock. You need four bobbin cones. But you can buy only one. Big bobbin cone you can rewind to 4 separate coils on sewing machine, as shown. You need pull on a piece of foam rubber on winder spindle. The bobbin cone is needed to put on the table and keep the thread in his hand near coil. Wind the thread should be at a low speed.

They can move at the same speed or at different speeds. This makes it possible to sew a qualitatively any fabrics including the knitted fabrics. Changing the ratio between the two speeds you can make with knob or a switch from 0,5 to 2,5.
