Serger threading can be quite complex, it is depending on the model of serger. If you look inside overlocker you find two loopers and a lot of guides for the passage of the thread.
In this post I will go step by step, explaining in detail and showing how to thread serger having one needle and two loopers. This instruction of threading a serger has more 20 photos.

Here you find the step by step guide of threading an old model Juki Baby Lock serger (BL3 - 407) that not has the differential feed for sewing knits fabrics.

It's an old model overlock that can work with three or two threads. Depending on the number of threads is required to set this lever to the numbers 3 or 2.

During threading any models of overlock sewing machines you should use the tweezers. Using tweezers, you can easy to insert a thread in the loopers of serger.

Before start threading a serger you have to feed all threads up through this loop of the thread guide.
You can feed the thread through these holes in two ways. Threads which are twisted into loops need to twist around the rod and insert in the hole, as shown at right in this photo.

Now you have to feed the needle thread through the left thread tensioner.

Then is needed insert the thread through the thread take-up.

Before inserting the thread through the needle eye, trim the thread end.

Holding the thread with the tweezers you can insert it into the eye of a needle with easily.

Now it's time to feed second thread that is used the upper looper a serger.

To thread both loopers you need to open the cover.

Many overlockers have color-coded stickers with printed scheme of threading.

Now you need to insert a thread into the looper hole.

At last it's time to feed the thread of lower looper a serger.

Following the instructions of threading the upper looper you can easily to thread through the guides and into the both eyes of lower looper.

During threading pay more attention to the lower looper. It has an additional fastening thread guide that is not always easily to see. To see it you need to open out the left side cover.

Now we proceed to the most complex case of threading a serger.
To thread this old model a serger you need to fill the thread into two eyes of the lower looper. To facilitate this process, this model of serger has a special glass window on the needle plate.

In this hard-to-reach hole you need to insert a thread.

As a last resort you can remove the needle plate to see how to feed the thread into the holes of lower looper.

We are now ready to thread through the eye of the looper and threading a serger will be completed.

The thread filling scheme can be found on the inside the lid of overlock or in manual.

Note: Using different colors of the threads, you can easily determine the correct tension all threads in overlock seam.

The thread tension of stitches on right side is correct also.
Now you need replace these color threads with threads having one color and you you are ready to overclock fabrics!
