This is tutorial how to sew front hip pockets for jeans. This sewing technique can be used for making the front pockets of the skirt also.

The front hip pockets are comfortable style pocket that most often can be seen in jeans and denim skirts. Learn how to sew a front hip pocket for your garments in this example that is the part of tutorial how to sew a skirt.

Begin by drafting the pattern a pocket lining that have two identical parts.

Please note that each pocket lining pieces have to be mirrored. This can be disregarded if the fabric for lining is single-colored.

Two upper parts of the lining should be cut as shown in the photo.

Now you need to cut off the fabric on the front parts of jeans or skirt. Here will be the input hip pocket holes.
Do not forget to add the allowance 1.5 cm above the input line.

Please note both parts must be mirrored.

Next, place the fabric remnants on the table. Take the small piece of pattern and circle its lower contour, as shown. Now you need to cut two curved strips having wide about 4-5cm.

The curved input of a hole must be strengthened by means of adhesive tape.

Stitch these details to the back lining parts.

Stitch the curved strips to the upper lining parts.

Begin by pinning the pocket facing to the front part a skirt, matching raw edges, right sides together.

Stitch both parts together with the seam allowance about 0.7-0.8 cm.

The seam allowance at the curve line needs to clip or trim.
