How to Sew on Buttons With Sewing Machine
Every model of sewing machines having a zigzag stitch can sew on the button and four step buttonhole. Do it is possible only with special button sewing presser foot.
Now let's try to sew on a button to the scrap of the fabric. For this test tutorial we use two holes button. Using button sewing foot you can attach 2 or 4-hole buttons to garments.
To sew buttons onto a piece of fabric, you will need to have a special presser foot.
Note: sew on the flat buttons only.
To use your sewing machine for attaching the button you need select the zig zag stitch.
Turn the lever of length stitch to minimum value, as shown.
The width of the zigzag stitch should correspond to the distance between centers of holes a button.
This option determined empirically.
This is small special button sewing foot. It has rubber parts that attach to the foot shank to provide extra stability a button during sewing.
Remove the presser foot and attach the button sewing foot.
Pull both ends of the thread as illustrated.
Place the fabric under the presser foot.
Place the button under the presser foot.
Start to sew on button without the using the foot control pedal of sewing machine.
Turn by hand the balance wheel and lower the needle to the place a button slowly.
Using the hand wheel you need insert the needle into the centers of first and second holes.
If you don't have a skill will be better not use the foot control pedal of sewing machine.
Sew on the button to garment with turning a wheel by hand.
Note: if the needle does not pass through the hole a button it may break or damage the surface of the buttons.
Now you can start to sew onto your garment any other buttons.
