How to Make Waistband with Buttonhole
The waistband for this skirt is cut in the same way as for the men's trousers (in two parts). One difference: the men's trousers have zipper at the front. The skirt's waistband ends meets at the back. The skirt's waistband ends overlaps itself so you can make a buttonhole.

In the previous tutorial we learned how to install the invisible zipper for the skirt.
Now let's try to make a waistband using the test sample of fabric.
Cut the waistband the length of the waist + 8 cm long (the 8 cm includes 1 cm each end seam allowance + 6 cm overlap) and 10 cm wide (the 4 cm wide + 1 cm each end seam allowance).
Now you must duplicate the fabric on wrong side using the one side fusible adhesive fabric.
Press the smooth side of fusible adhesive fabric with steam iron, as shown.
Fold waistband in half and press it up as shown.
One edge of waistband you need to serger.
Pin the waistband to the skirt along top edge where you sew a zipper (face side to face side).
Now this edge of waistband you need to stitch to the skirt along this top edge that you've pinned.
Repeat these steps on the other side of the skirt.
Stitch the waistband along other top edge a skirt.
Now press the waistband seam on the face side.
Place the facing on top of the waistband, right sides together and pin the edge. Look at the arrow.
Make sure the inner part of waistband lies exactly as shown on this photo (0.8-1cm).
The leather sewing awl helps you in this step.
Place the other facing part of the waistband together and pin, matching edges as shown.
Stitch all the way before the corner, turn and stitch close to the zipper.
Snip off the corners of the waist ties as shown to reduce some of that bulk. Be careful not to cut thread.

This is the left inner part of waistband a skirt.
Here is the "tail" on the right part a waistband of skirt.
Stitch along waist seam as close as possible to the edge a waistband. Better is to stitch into this seam. Do it requires a bit of precision, but is quite fine.
Now press it down and do finishing stitches along the bottom edge of the waistband.
Face side a skirt
and wrong side.
It remains only to make buttonhole on the short end of the waistband.
Seam ripper you will need for cutting open buttonholes.
Find the position of the center a button.
